Out of the blue, I received a phone call from a gentleman looking for a dresser for his new bachelor pad. He saw one of our ads online and was actually inquiring about a piece that had just recently sold. He said he was looking for a large dresser and preferred it to be black. I had the perfect piece in mind! I sent him a picture of one of our larger dressers in inventory and he agreed it was exactly what he was looking for.
For this dresser, I went with a mixture of 3/4 Annie Sloan Graphite and 1/4 General Finishes Lamp Black. Your probably wondering why the added Lamp Black. Well…I find Annie Sloan’s Graphite to be a gorgeous color, but also one of the hardest of Annie Sloan’s colors to work with if I plan on spraying the piece. By adding the Lamp Black, the finish seems to be a tad bit richer in color and much easier to spray.
Two coats later and rocking the original hardware!
I’m so happy he agreed to me staining the inside drawers instead of painting them to match the rest of the dresser. I used General Finishes Java Gel Stain to richen up the already beautiful natural wood. The end results turned out amazing.
On to our next project!
